Thanks Marc. I have seen this set often and sometimes I tried to win it. I will try it again, thanks I just bought a set of shields in various sizes, intended for 1:43 scale modellers, but it will apparently take 7-8 weeks before I might get them. I will tell you if any of the shields are of a suitable size. Probably you will find shields that will fit boths scales. I have bought some Herpa 1/43 Ferraris and the shield on the boot are only slightly bigger than the shields on the 1/87 Ferraris.

More about PC models or promotionals.
Did the Golf IV exist as a promotional model? I would like to find this Volkswagen with the VW shield and the "Golf" logo in the rear.

Did the Golf IV exist as a promotional model? Albert, As a Herpa model, no (exception below). Volkswagen got their Mk4 promotionals from Wiking (3-door, wagon) and AWM (very few 5-doors, Bora/Jetta, Bora wagon). Herpa did the model as volume sellers appear to be safe bets in 1/87th scale, as well, but without industry underwriting. For PC-style promotionals, you will need to look at Wiking. They did a PC-boxed Christmas special (metallic gold) and similar Summer specials (red, metallic green) that did not differ too much from regular releases, apart from the packaging. As for the exception, the only Herpa Golf Mk4 promotional made for Volkswagen I am aware of is a metallic silver driving-school car with a roof-bar. It was made for a Frankfurt IAA event. It is not, however, a PC model, nor did it receive any special decorations apart from the roof bar. I found it quite interesting that VW accepted a model that had the prototypically incorrect black B-pillars Herpa printed on almost all their Golf Mk4 models. Marc S.

I damaged the paint of a beige metallic Golf trying to remove the black paint. Thanks for the models mentioned. I will glance at Ebay.

EDIT: Additionally, there is a yellow F50 w/hardtop that was a special edition for the 1999 Sinsheim model show. It, too, featured a PC box and all the details. It's even harder to get than the red PC model. The car has no Ferrari badge on the front but is standing on a carbon lookalike base. Yes, although I do not know whether it received the full PC tratment with shields and all. It might just have been released in a PC box and fitted with chrome wheels. The Black F40 has no Ferrari badge, but on the back of the car is a badge with the country code of Italy.
