I believe it is safe to say that High Speed is producing the models marketed under the Schuco, High Speed and Model Power Mini names while using Hongwell licenses. The package insert on the Model Power version also mentions the licences are held by Hongwell.

Dear Sirs: The first High Speed Vehicles that I got onto my collection were a range of racers- well molded ones- in 1/43 scale. Later, I figured that some of the Reader's Digest vehicle series ( given to the readers who manage to subscribe people to their magazine) such an N-gauge GM EMD Loco was also molded by them. On eBay, a 1/64 scale Oldsmobile is on sale right now.If these are connecetd to Hongwell, that means that they will have a lot of vehicles- on several scales- to offer. cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4207299133&category=223&sspagename=STRK%3AMEBBI%3AIT&rd=1

The Readers Digest pieces that I have are actually 1-76 scale. Early Racing Champions trucks ('92 &'93) are marked Hi Speed. Some of the beer truck combinations are also marked Hi Speed, in fact, I recently recieved the Pete 377 and it is identical to the one made for Boley.

Am I far off in believing that Schuco is the driving force behind all that?
One of these days I am going to draw a picture with the different companies and their relations. It'll be a mess, though. ;D

Dear Sirs: Both companies have their own sites. While Hongwell's site will indicate most of their products by scale and that is easily acessed, the one from High Speed is difficult to acess and only shows large scale racing vehicles (including a nice Mercedes-Benz racing truck). www.highspeed.com.hk

Schuco's and Model Power cars come/came from High Speed, at least some of the trucks from Hongwell, as far as I can see a clear difference between Hongwell and High Speed is the way the models are fixed in the boxes: Hongwell uses screws, High Speed a sort of click-mechanism. Still it's likely there's some sort of connection between Hongwell and High Speed. JanS

Still it's likely there's some sort of connection between Hongwell and High Speed. I thought so, too. On the other hand, the 300 SL roadster, gullwing, and sport prototype models by HighSpeed and Hongwell feature remarkable differences. If they were linked to each other, why would they design two totally different sets of tooling? Marc S.

Dear Sirs:
That is what I tryed to state above: since each company has their own site,I see few probabilities to been connected.
As it happened to Johnny Lightning: before it was independent, a product of Playing Mantis; now it was acquired by RC2,a larger concern, and their articles appears at the RC2 site,
If the same was true about Hongwell or High Speed, their logos would appear at each other sites, but as I checked this is not the case.
Marc is right: why they would use new tiooling to create basically the same vehicle?
And,if one is patient to wait for the High Speed site to load, will see that no 1/87 vehicles are shown.

It's important to remember High Speed is geared toward contract manufacturing. They develop some product on their own and some is developed for others. Here's more info about High Speed Metal & Plastic Products Manufacturing Company, Ltd. supplier.tradeeasy.com/nf/c21515-4d7d/index.html

Oh wow, thanks for the site Bill. Well there are some real interesting cars, that are not available in Germany at the moment. The Land Rover Freelander V6, the Lexus SC430, the Gallardo in this awesome orange and the Murcielago.
Does anybody know anything about, if they will be available from Schuco or Model Power? Some have already german plates...
Markus
