N is the hot scale in Japan (where the ratio is 1:150). Tomix, Green Max and Kato all offer N-scale vehicles. Tomix probably has the best variety, but the Kato models are better quality.
As a matter of fact, there are more models of different Toyotas in N-scale than in HO. There are three different Crowns (five, if you add the station wagon and taxi versions), a Vitz, an Altezza, Noah and Previo minivans, a HiAce bus and a Harrier SUV.
There are Nissan Cedrics and GTRs and even a Mercedes E-Class.
A couple of different Mitsubishi Fuso truck and an Isuzu Elf.
Green Max produces a small number of medium truck kits, as well.

N scale is coming on strong in the US. There is a lot of excellent railroad equipment coming on the market, particularly in steam engines. Now we need to see more vehicles in the 20s thru 50s offered to fill their miniture highways.

H0 is -and always has been- the favourite hobby scale in Germany, with N-scale being the eternal runner-up. Having noticed how Arnold, which was one of the major players in N-gauge locomotives and rolling stock, struggled and now appears to have more or less passed away (helped by poor Lima management), and how Roco almost abandoned N-scale by not announcing new items in recent years, I assume that N-gauge had to suffer even more drastically decreasing demand than H0. I am unsure about the reasons behind that market development, but I can certainly understand why manufacturers hesitate to announce new N-scale vehicles when they face even less customers than for H0-scale vehicle models.

Marc:
Thank You! This is the information for which I was looking. A decline in the N-scale model railroad market in Germany would certainly account for the lack of interest in new models, especially ones that might not sell.
It's still a shame; it would have been very nice to see more of Busch's line of 1/87 scale American models recreated in 1/160.

Of course! Rietze makes some very nice bus models in N; the Megaliner is outstanding. But I have been hoping for an undecorated version for the Grimy Gulch layout. Bill C.

Herpa will be making a new 1:160 model of the BMW Mini Cooper. First release will be as loads for a Märklin-Trix train set, with a separate model being offered later (the same thing Herpa did with the Mercedes SLR McLaren).
Since these are models of vehicles made by Herpa's most important patron, it will be interesting to see if Herpa fobs production off to China, like the rest of their N-scale products, or decides to make these in Germany.

Dear Sirs: It was Zee toys/Zylmex;by 1995,Red Box,and now it is Motormax. During the Red Box period, the 1/64 line was virtually cut off,and new models were released on 1/24 scale;nice models overall. At the same, time, there was a British adress and by 1999 I heard that vehicles specially made for the British market were released;either 1/36 for the cars and/or 1/64 for the Double Decker buses. However,up to 2004,I only knew of two models, both in 1/36:the cop car- a Rover,I think, and the Ambulance and the British know what that is. Last year I bid at the two models that I only knew, and lost.A couple months ago,at eBay,I discovered the other models that were offered to this market, and among these, there was a Tube Train (London Subway). I bid on the train, and I received it yesterday. This piece is not only wonderful, but I think that it comes close to N gauge. The picture of it is shown below. cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=6916051256&ssPageName=STRK:MEAFB:IT
