This was once one of the best sites around for 1/87 modeling; now it is basically a dead site. I've tried to liven things up the last 6 months by posting anything and everything but no one seems to want to join in. Surely, other members have acquired things or done some modeling they could tell us about! I am going to be inactive again (as I have been in the past) due to health reasons. If I survive this latest treatment I'll try some more posting. all for now, Swamp Daddy Hi Swampdaddy First of all, I wish you all the best and I very much hope that you get well again. In fact, this was probably the best address for Modellbau 1/87. Together with the database, it was the most important thing for me to manage my extensive collection. Probably it has not managed to break the generation change from the founders to potential successors. The image gallery of 1/87 Vehicle Club is still, albeit less active. With Google Translate you can also get good information on French and Dutch pages today. The measure of things today is the German mo87.de. It is today internationally positioned even if the language is German. In the meantime also English messages are accepted. Mostly because they show brilliant models. And Google Translate works both ways. Organized by Michael Scheel and Marc Schmid, the MO87 Fulda Meeting is truly the scene's hotspot and the place where small-lot manufacturers are to be found. Since the scene in the US also has great things to offer it would be very enjoyable if they would also work together more actively in the network. Or I just do not know that that is already the case? With warmest regards Markus of Switzerland United Collectors

Dear Enthusiasts
From a European perspective, it is not easy to offer American cars. There are 3 important points for this: 1. Original US vehicles are rarely used on European roads. Only in Switzerland are strikingly many "Amis" on the road.
2. There are hardly any official dealers for US cars available. And if so, not every type is offered. This has many reasons: The Ford Flex underscores the eco-performance of Ford Europe, which means higher taxes for all Ford vehicles. From the CTS / DTS / STS only the CTS were officially crashed. Cadillac certified all 3, because they are basically constructed in the same way. Switzerland accepted this, and gave it all 3 at the dealer. The European Union accepted only the crashed CTS. The others were only allowed to be introduced as a second hand from Switzerland. Shelby's Cobra is a kit car in the US and does not need to be crashed. This vehicle can no longer be registered in Europe.
3. The oldimer scene offers a wide range of US cars. Since these are usually not from the home market but imported as an oldie they are usually regarded as exotics. A harsh point is also that American cars look different every year. Do I want exactly my car? Poor, in the model there is only the vintage next to it available.
In summary, this means that rarely apply, small selection of types and exotic status coupled with unwill and restrictions from the US manufacturers result in a very poor starting position for a good business. For collectors this is not easy because the industrial production is due to high number of pieces and avoids the risk.
But for model makers there is light at the end of the tunnel. Funnily, Americans are not the leaders in the 1:87 model car kit scene for American role models. Some small series kit manufacturers around MO87 offer a nice selection and variety of US vehicles.
Sincerely Markus

Hi Nick Theres something in the Manufacturers list at Model International / PreP / Praliné. PreP was more for advertising on giveaways than for collectors. Store it sunprotected, the plastic and the prints are low quality. SMD gives you a good overlook over all versions: www.s-mdb.com/Markus

www.mawast.ch is just a future project. United Collectors its a new and indipendend label with no garantie for frequently new models. For Fulda '09, UC has presented the "Flint French Coast 1972". Because there are a cuple of "Engeneers" on this project, the idee of a new 1973 model from the greater Detroit area has used more time as estimated. So is the model for Fulda '10 the "Flint Riviera 1971". With some chanches, it was possible to make a different model. For Fulda '11, byside the model from Detroit, UC can maybe present another model with roots in Turin , Italy. United Collectors models are always named by the place of the plant or the plant name himself. Its a little Quiz and keeps away some possible trouble. Behind the models is always the same question: Why is this car not available in 1/87? Next presentation: October 8th, 2011 at Fulda.

The trend ist definitly ower! And thats good this way!
As more you drink beer as much you get free models. And then you sold it for a horrible price on someone that dont drink that much.
This models are only adverdising stuff. Poor quality and allmost with no prototype. They are made in one lot and no one knows howmany are produced.
Typicly hipe collecting like Swatch watches or chocolate egg toys. Some are making real money, the most are overpaying stuff witch is not more worth than what it has cost: nothing!!!
At the end: Why pay money for a 87 model on your dealer, when you get beer for less and a free truck? Not realy good for our Hobby.
This hipe is hopefully only located in germany.

I had a nice and verry interesting speach with a member of Replicars. He has told me, that the Saab is not the standard with the models will come out. They are not verry happy with the result, so they go back to the manufacture for a better finish The state of the art is given by other brands, and NEO will reach this standard. Only the price will not go this high. The second model, the Pininfarina MB 300 is a verry nice peace of resin. This model shows us how good looking the models are. By the Saab, i guess they had too much rusch in front of the convention, and i think they will surprice us positivly in the middle of the year.

I was in my Hollydays in LV, SF and LA. I was in every Toys r us and Wallmart Superstore that i have found.
All was i got was the Superbird, a Galaxy and in every Store a lot of Mustangs. All around 4 Dollar.
There are more chances to get a Hot Wheel in Switzerland! But only for a horrible high price as up to 7-14 bucks for a normal and up to 35.-- for a Batmobile!?!
My interesting in Hot Wheels ist actually near zero.

I have called Bob a few days ago. It was not easy, because he is not able to phone allone. He was happy to hear, that some old friends are thinking a minute to him. What he is missing most is contakt to people. It's so bad, i was in LA in June and was trying to met Bob once again. But i had no chance to find him.
I meet Fulda this year and i will send him a cart with a lot good whiches.

I`m jure, you need more time to built your model, then this crazy redneck had needed for his villa. Can this thing use the streets?

Welcome Trainclown, Its funny to see, someone others paint first in silver too. It makes the color more brighter and deeper. I look foreward to see the result.
