Dear Sirs: One of the most interesting aspects of the Japanese car industry is the fact that all of their manufacturers had at least a bus or minibus model. Isuzu and Mistubishi being one of the major suppliers of these vehicles.Nissan, under the UD badge, also offers fulls size buses. The site below refers to the Mitsubishi minibus version, the Rosa, which is still in production and started life in the early 1960's. Mitsubishi also manufactures full size buses, under the Fuso - used on trucks as well - badge. www.mitsubishi-motors.co.jp/docs6/history/html/b6.htm#1979%20Rosa

Dear Joe:
This company exist since 1948; hence,it started life as modified (Leylands transformed to the Hindu Market) Leylands and as time went on, their vehicles were enginereed and draw in India but the Leyland name was not dropped.
Same thing happened with Dennis (UK) buses: the ones which run in Hong Kong are slightly different than the ones which are offered at the home market.

Dear Wayne:
Fantastic list. Also add the buses from Lledo (mostly in 1/87) and I got a MCI that is almost close to 1/87; has Geyhound liveries.
I also have some of the buses from your list.

Dear Sirs:
According to a book which covers the history of Jeeps, during the Kaiser period, civilian and military production were combined togheter and alas, military sales were the bulk of Jeep sales. At the 1960's, Kaiser got the Studebaker plant that manufactured military vehicles.
As AMC took over, the military plant were named AMG - American Motors General - and this plant was birthplace of the Hummer (one can notice that the first Hummers were refered to as AMG Hummers).
This plant also manufactured buses that were called the Metropolitan and production of these continued until the early 1980's. Some of these saw work as trolleybuses in Boston; currently these are nowhere to be seen. A model exists (non-HO) and was apparently made by Roberts Models. Canadian Flyers were identical; little details differed from the AMG buses.
If I am not wrong, SCRTD had a big order of these and something unique: a fleet of 60-foot articulated buses which in theory were AMG buses but in fact that was a MAN diesel bus with AMG components. None of these are around either, and story goes that the drivers would hit these buses because of its lenght; as for the trolleybuses, passengers at times will be shocked if the wheater was adverse. Pictures will be posted if found.

Dear Sirs:
Today at the news,I saw the details about Busch's inauguration and I saw it immediatelly: at a street shot, an old GMC city bus from the 1950's was rolling alongside - rather, ahead - of the regular traffic. It was a pleasure to see that old item alongside its more modern counterparts.
If I am not wrong, Canadian operators always have a number of restored 'veteran' buses running alongside of their up-to-date equipment.

Here's a weird one: It is referred to only as the "SKS", I believe it is a one-off built by the Kanto Corporation (in September 1946, during the US post-war occupation of Japan). I dare bet that not even Nick has seen this one before... If I only read Japanese, this site offers plenty of other oddities.

Dear Hakan:
Thank you, never saw it before. However, that may be me but this look reamarkably like an IH metro stepvan from that period that was converted to a minibus.

Dear Skunk:
I even did not noticed that;thing is I was aware that some models - such as the Erga City bus, which is their best seller - was missing but I never made the connection.
I like the design on their city buses. Thank you,
Nick K.
