Dear Eric:
Thank you.I just rediscovered this brochure and the quality of this products is at 65% range, yet,if all of these were molded, bus freaks as myself would be in heaven.
Dear cfesmire:
Setras are often used on High-Luxury tours-at least in California. If my memory don't fail,Setras had a hand of the development of the Super Eagles, another of my favorites.
Dear JeanMarc: Still looking for a Gar Wood.Is probable that it was repoduced as a toy,as it was the Pickwick.

Dear Nick
what an interesting program that this unknown (to me) manufacturer Roberts Miniature Transport did in the 80's...If you have any pictures, they would be welcome to illustrate list on 87thscale.info site!
I learn something from you about Jane's Urban Transport book....I suppose it's the same editor than Jane's aircraft publication?...I didn't know this editor made such a work on Buses?! ...Then I can believe you about the serious of this book.
About AEROCOACH and GARWOOD...it seems AEROCAOCH was created to produce GARWOOD models under licence (as BESSET/ISOBLOC did in the same time(1938) in France)....I guess , AEROCAOCH kept on their production post war?...(P37? Master Craft Coach?)....but Garwood company disappeared from the scene after World War II.

Dear JeanMarc: The only photos from David P. Roberts buses are at his catalog;I looked at the Internet, but I could not find anything about him or his products.I still unable to scane/take pictures. According to Nick Georgano's Encyclopedia of Commercial Vehicles,Aerocoach buses were manufactured from 1940 to 1952.General American Transportation Corp. , a builder and lessor of Railroad cars, purchased Gar Wood and the new range of buses used the same principle of bus building as its predecessor.Aerocoach also try a shot at the Transit buses, but it was not sucessful. In the end,the company failed because the bus market had changed in this period, and Aerocoach was unable to keep pace with it.Most of its buses went to foreign costumers. Jane's Urban Transportation Systems is published by Jane's Group, the publisher of All the World's Aircraft and other Military publications. The Urban series is published continuosly since 1982,and covers the following:Transit systems,in 100+ cities;urban train manufacturers;bus manufacturers-integral bus builders, bus body builders, trolleybuses;electrical systems;transit consultants. The format of the publication changed from time to time and chapters were added/withdrawn.The book itself is quite expensive ($ 800.00 or so range) so the best shot is the Public Library. It is a very valuable publication for Mass Transit/Bus freaks such as myself. Nick Thanks for all these infos, and pictures ...I confirm what you mentionned about the story of Aerocoach. The pictures shows only the post war versions , I think. I ' m sorry to (still) not be able to post pictures of the firsts Aerocoach (1940 around) which are exactly like Garwood type ( and consequently Isobloc)... About this Beck Bus, very similar to GMC indeed....imagine the model produced by Rietze, Herpa or Wiking...woudn't be fantastic?. ...I would like it as well by Corgi OOC or EFE.... About Greyhound GMC bus as model toy, not many things at HO scale? isn'it? ... Maybe Pirate Models Kits during the 70's?...The Matchbox and the Tootsie toys (this one is very nice) are unfortunately definitvely out of scale (too small or too big)

Dear JeanMarc:
It is not a secret that I appreciate this site-and people here-very much. You are very welcome and info regarding to the site will be given regulary. The Matchbox bus is something like 1/100 scale;I am not sure about the Tootsetoys bus (I saw it at eBay);maybe 1/76 or 1/64 scale.
MEK produces the current one;Lledo's is right, but the lenght is wrong-measures to around 35 feet;amd David P. Roberts is the other one.Pirate's model is a newer GMC PD bus.

Nice pictures of these GARWOOD first versions of 1935...with "conventional" cab, named "Model C" . What a funny look isn'it? ....then in 1937 a cabover version was produced and named "Road Cruiser". That model had been made under license by ISOBLOCin France and GATC in Usa.

Dear JeanMarc: That bus has a very unusual look,to say the least.I do not know if any of the american versions survived.I hope that there are any of the Isobloc version around. Next,I will mention the Pickwick. These were double decker buses that had shower facilities and kitchen, around the 1930's.Greyhound bought onto these. Is interesting to note that during the daylight, only 26 passengers were carried; during the night, only 14 because, perhaps,of the shower and kitchen facilities.I have a toy replica of it,around 1/100 and this is a copy of the original toy which is scarce and on the $100.00 range. www.busmuseum.org/series30/show.html

Checker took over Ford bus production after WWII. I have a HO 40' era bus that I plan on converting to a Checker.
I have a couple of Checker Brochures.
A freind of mine just restored one, it being donated to the Auburn, Cord, Dusenburg Museum in Indiana

Dear Joe:
Thank you.The Ford bus was done in HO;hence this will be a very interesting model. Thanks to this bus site,is the First time that I saw Checker buses outside of a Transport Encyclopedia. If I find the picture of it,I will post the URL.When Collectable Automobile did the article on the Checker,I do not think that they covered the buses.

Dear Sirs:
On a move to the 1920's,the Moreland double-decker buses were quite modern, because the 1924 model was equipped with front and rear air brakes.Up to the early 1930's,Pacific Electric and Lary Corporations from Los Angeles had several Morelands at their fleets-single-deckers and double deckers.Lary had their double-deckers operating along Wilshire Boulevard.

Dear Sirs:
So far I know, the Garwoods were not made in any scale.Maybe, just maybe it was done as a toy,as it happened to the Pickwick.
