Well, there were two different Flxible buses manufactured by APM. The first they have released is the 1950 Visicoach, with wide windows (3 large and one small on each side - APM ref 39013). The second one is the 1947 Clipper, with small windows (7 on each side - APM ref 39001). I’m sure, I’ve got both of them, right here, in front of me…

Nick, Uh…sorry to contradict you, but that’s two different models! I remember quite well the Majorette model that you’re talking of, but the Norev one is totally different. Have a look at this picture… www.87thscale.info/images/Norev_SaviemBus.jpg

Nick
Sorry, I may have misunderstood you. A few words more about these two models anyway…
The Majorette bus with open rear deck is, I think, a model from the 70’s. I think it was still in use in a few Parisian bus lines a few years ago. These buses were very popular as they remind the old Parisian buses, the ones that have their one on only entrance through the rear deck. They were also popular by smokers, as they could smoke on the rear deck.
The Norev one is bus of the 60’s, mainly used as Intercity or charter bus. The choice of Norev to release this model on HO scale was judicious, as this sort of vehicles became more and more usual in front of SNCF railways stations in the 60’s, as they were used to replace trains when small railways lines were closed. So the Norev model was fine to be placed in front of Jouef’s Gare de Neuvy or de Villeneuve.

Majorette Saviem bus-green and white-open rear deck Hey! That was one of my favorite toys when I was a kid! I liked it even better after I realized that it wasn't just a "mere toy", since it was the same scale as my father's Wikings. This must have been my first 1:87 vehicle...

Well, after our little talk with Nick about Majorette Saviem bus, I realised that I have a book somewhere about the RATP (Régie Autonome des Transports Parisiens = Parisian public transport company) that may give some informations about it.
In fact, the rear-deck Saviem is a special order from the RATP. There is quite a story about it. One day, in 1976, a Saviem SC10 (with no open platform) came back to the RATP garage with its entire rear front broken after a road accident. It gave someone the idea of not repairing it, but to convert in an open platform instead. The idea pleased the management, the first bus was modified, and as it was a success, 55 more buses of this new type have been ordered. As I’ve already said, these buses were popular, as Parisians were nostalgic about the old Renault TN, in which you boarded through a rear platform. As these modified SC10 were mainly used on two tourist bus lines (ligne 20, St-Lazare-Bastille par les Grands Boulevards – ligne 27, St-Lazare-Ivry, par les quais et St-Germain), they became also popular by tourists. So it’s really not surprising that Majorette has reproduced this model.

Dear Sirs:
Some more buses:
ROAD CHAMPS Flxble Metro City bus-several transit agencies, excluding MTA ( Los Angeles)
SDV Karosa City,Highway Buses
BREKINA Mercedes City Bus-I rode that one as a kid
PEAK HORSE Dennis from Hong Kong-spectacular
LLEDO Daimler Double Decker bus;also reproduced by the Chinese Setra short Wheelbase airport buses
CORGI Mercedes Benz minibus; diecast
EKO Mercedes Benz minibus
MATCHBOX Mercedes Benz minibus
KYOSHO MAN powered bus
The Article from Sylvain was very informative;now I comprehend why Majorette's Saviem has an open rear whilst Norev's 1/43 scale one hasn't.
