Hi all: Someone mentioned this model in another thread; BUT, I've read so many pages I have no idea where.
The model is now identified, it is a 1965 Chevy Step Van and was made by Quality Craft Models (HO trains) in the 70's (I think).
It is a 10 piece white metal kit, 4-sides, roof, chassis and 4 wheels. I am not sure I want to build it yet so it is offered briefly in the Trade Zone in case anyone is desparate to have it.
I will eventually do it myself if no one wants it.

Great model, no longer available, it actually depicts a Boyertown Van body on a Chevrolet Chassis.
Boyertown made the same van body for Ford and Dodge as well. They all looked the same, but had a badge on the front that represented the engine and chassis. The HO model has the Chevy bowtie

I have one of these Chevy step vans that I bought maybe 10 or 15 years ago when it was still listed in the Walthers catalog. I glued the body together without attaching the chassis, and then lost interest. Having an ice cream vendor nearby that uses a couple 1:1 versions of these, I had something to compare the model to. I decided that the scale looked more like 1/72 scale than 1/87 scale and the front actually looked too flat and the body appeared too wide for it's height. I lost one of the wheels and then put it away until tonight. After reading this thread, I pulled it out and reafirmed that I don't like it parked next to other 1/87 scale vehicles.

About the shape of the front: There were several different coachbuilders for this type. I found a pic with this grill, but that's is a Divco. Very possible because Chevrolet didn't make Stepvans by there own. The back is more common. It is definitly not 1/87. And it is too long to be correct in another scale. Real size is (I think) 3,96 meter long (45,3 mm in scale) 1,83 meter wide (21,0 mm in scale) Or it's an extra long vehicle. Divco had diffent wheelbases. (type 40;50;60 and 70) Than it still is 24,4% too large.

I sold the one I had several weeks ago. As already described, this truck is not even close to being 1/87 scale.
