This one is a '61 Dodge Lancer. Like the Dodge Dart kit, I added a resin interior, some resin wheels and tires, and fixed the back bumper. The outside mirrors and whitewalls are from Automobilia.
Here's a '61 Dodge Polara. The resin interior is painted a lighter color on this one so it shows up better in the photo. I used the kit supplied chasssis on all of these but I added a styrene tube to hold metal axles for the front and rear wheels. The use of the styrene tube helped to stiffen up the chassis considerably.
This '61 Plymouth station wagon was a real mess. Someone had crudely repaired the injection mold, and the whole left side of the car looked like it was in an accident or something. The door gap was carved into the mold, so there was a raised rib to outline the door, like on some older Matchbox cars. I re-carved the door gap and sanded off all of the damage on the left side. The wheel arch lips and the styling line that runs down the side all had to be re-built with putty. The front bumper / grille was such a poor fit, that I had to glue it in place first, and then fill the large gaps with putty. The area around the headlights all had to be re-built with putty as well. After painting the body, I carefully masked off the front grille / bumper and painted it with Alclad chrome over a base of Alclad gloss black. The effect is good but the chrome finish does not stand up well to a lot of handling.
I also installed a resin interior, and resin wheels/tires. The back bumper had to be reshaped as well. I also cut a section out of the window glazing to make the windshield fit into its opening.
