New to the site. Not new to building models. Just a lil while ago I got into these 1/87 scale cars. Iv been building 1/25th-1/64th scale cars for over 20 yrs. so the 1/87 scale isn't no big deal. It's all the same thing. I'm going to do my best at posting only 1/87 scale cars, so hope you like them. Here's a model power 55 Chevy I made into a kustom sled. The way you see it. Is the way it's done. Hosted on FotkiHosted on FotkiPics were takin from a iPad 2 so the pics are crappy.

Nice Hot Rods! What kind of paints are you using to achieve the candy colors?
And, when you chop a top, are you actually adding in a piece, like they do on the real cars, because when the roof is lowered, the posts don't line up? At any rate, your customs and rods are looking really cool!

Thanks for the respons Al. The candy paint is dupli color chrome/testers candy apple red. The 32 chop is very easy. The 40 was harder. What I did was just cut the bottom of the A post 4". And from the back window, I pushed the roof foreword to where it fit right.

Just got done redoing a 49 ford shoebox. Its made by Alloy formed. Wanted to make it look more like todays HotRod/Kustoms. Chopped the roof off, Made to look like theres a airbag sys in it. So its lowered in the back. Flathead motor, kustoms seat covers, ORG old faded and rusted paint, with new flames paint over it. (there decals). Kept the org white walls, they look old and faded. These are radical transformations. I especially like 56 pickup and finish. Shirter is a shirt pin?

Here's a 1961 Imperial made by Revell. I shaved the whole body down, Painted it mettle flake green with candy green scallops, all over the car. Lowered it and put white walls on it. I'd love to outline the scallops in red or another color but would need to find a very thin pen. Hosted on FotkiHosted on Fotki
