Kent: Thanks (and welcome!). I am looking forward to having the Nash on my workbench. Tony: It seems that Makette doesn't have any US dealers. There aren't any listed on their website in any case: makette.de/makette/bestellen.html

Based on the image presented on mo87, it looks like a really nice model. Tony F.

Thanks for the news, Sylvain! I'll be watching for their release - I can see a couple of those 1957 Merc's on my layout...

Let's hope that the 56 Continental and the Mustang are the same as the Model Power ones. Because if not Oxford has no clue about their target market (which is never a good sign for the future).

It's a tempting thought and I hope that it holds up to scrutiny. Schuco has announced the Mustang as a 2014 release presumably after the Model Power exclusive rights to the mold were given up/sold. Strangely, they haven't announced the Continental yet. What do we know about the origin of the Oxford models? I seem to remember that they were responsible for the Road Rager models, which suggests that they have their own facilities. And High Speed went bust a while ago.
Anyway, I am not so sure about the target market musing. For all we know the sixth 1/87 Mustang might sell better than the first 1/87 Cougar. Something tells me that Ricko made money with their 300 SL for example.

Wasn't so much complaining about the Mustang, they'll have to milk the lincense somehow. I just don't think a fourth 56 Lincoln is a better seller than a first 57 or 60 model. Or a 56 glass top Crown Vic, 60 Starliner or Country Squire. Wasn't even thinking about a Cougar, Bronco or any other 60s or 70s classic. Maybe some of those will eventually appear in the future, but I'm not getting my hopes up to high at this time. I kinda dig the Turnpike and the x-100 however.

It was easier to argue the Mustang's case, that's all. To a lesser degree the Continental case might be the same. The '56 is a well known icon, the '60 is not. But I am probably as irritated as you are. If not by this irreproducible approach to marketing, then (still) by the strangeness of the 1/87 market itself.

Remember though that this "'56 Lincoln" is NOT a Lincoln, but a Continental… I know, I did the mistake by typing "Lincoln Continental 1956" when it should have been "Continental 1956", as it is on Oxford's website. But it would be much more interesting if they would announce a '56 Lincoln instead of a '56 Continental, that's for sure
