I totally agree with Mike. I would like to see Ricko continued to develop, mostly American classics. There are plenty of European models coming this year. My wallet must also keep pace. Yes, I agree. Lets encourage Ricko to develop more American Classics.

I'm pleased to advise that there is renewed dialog between Ricko and our factory in China. Hopefully, this will now lead to an immediate transfer of the molds. As soon as the tooling is received, inspected and tested at our plant, I'll be happy to acknowledge the successful transfer. The sooner we can put this in the rear view mirror and look forward, the better for all!

That is good news Ron, for you as the manufacturer, for me as a dealer and certainly for collectors!! I look forward to hearing about the finalized tooling transfer, and the start of production! Jeff

Ricko got out of the 1/18 line because the scale imploded and the economics became unsupportable. That happened when I was still working with them.
There are a lot of rumors swirling out there, some with a fair degree of authority, that say Ricko has either exited the 1/87 scale market or wants to do contract work only. I do know they were tired of dealing with licensing. The fact Ricko doesn't respond tends to add credence to these rumors.
However, it should be understood that Ricko's parent company is perfectly capable of restoring Ricko to its former place in the 1/87 scale world.

Bill,
If Ricko has exited it is truly a major loss for HO scale modelers and collectors. They offer exquisite models at the best price for their medium. Let's hope they are only taking a breather and will announce something new soon.
Ron seems to be optimistic about Ricko and the Expedition SSP models so that is positive. Once again, I hope Ricko is still in the game making great HO models.

I remember Ricko was in the mood for a range Roll Royces, but I think that a Rolls line, like Starmada does with Mercedes, is not good for Ricko. Of course some Rolls's are welcome, but they certainly need other brands as well. (Like Duesenberg ;D ;D )

Vito,
Ron was optimistic about finally getting the tooling he paid for away from Ricko so he could have the Expeditions produced elsewhere. Ricko will not be producing any models for River Point Station.

It's encouraging to know that the Expedition SSPs may finally be manufactured. I'm assuming that there were enough preorders from the dealers??? If this is so, do we know a possible release date?

That's good to hear, thanks for the info. Ricko got out of the 1/18 line because the scale imploded and the economics became unsupportable. That happened when I was still working with them. Interesting bit of inside information. Up till now I thought that the 1/18 scale market was flourishing - compared to 1/87 at least ...

Greetings, All!
Just a brief update: Recently, Ricko delivered the Expedition tooling to our transfer agent. We appreciate their cooperation in this matter, and we thank everyone who contributed to this discussion.
We expect to setup the tooling for the SSP version for pre-production testing very soon . We will be adding a few more SKU numbers, and hope to be in production during the second quarter.
Regards,
Ron @ RPS

Ron and Mr Ricko,
I am very pleased to hear that this matter has been settled amicably to everyone's benefit.
Although I was a little unhappy with Mr Ricko's initial response to the matter - I don't think there was any need for such language - I am happy that Mr Ricko has responded positively now on the matter.
As we know Mr Ricko is still alive and reading this, perhaps Mr Ricko would comment on current and future plans for Ricko in the 87th scale market. There has been much said about the disappointment of recent announcements, or lack of them from Ricko. Perhaps Mr Ricko or Lynn can comment on what the company is currently up to and thinking about on the 87th scale market. Are you pulling out of the market, are you too busy with making models for other companies that you cannot accomodate models of your own, or is it a rest before more models come to the market place ?
Comments would be welcome.
Thanks, Gary

I'm very glad with the newest Rolls Royces but I'm curious about future models too.

I recently had a long telephone conversation with Betty Law, Ricko's general manager. Ricko is evaluating their future moves but is still mostly interested in being a contract manufacturer. As I understand it, There are some ideas for new projects in the pipeline but there's no word (or at least, no comment) on when they might turn into reality.

Finally found some Ricko Chargers on eBay that I got for a good price. Really nice model too. I am sorry they did not continue with 1/87 models, etc. Swamp Daddy
