I love the Chevy and GMC LCF trucks of the '50s. I had built one model, but there were some errors in the Resin Unlimited LCF Chevy casting. The cab is too wide and the hood is too short, plus it is missing a fender crease along the door. So I decided to make a more accurate version of the GMC by starting with the AF 55 Chevy. I started in February and just now got finished. Steve D did the casting for me from the master I made. I had drawings, so the model is pretty accurate. The real killer though is that after all that work, the Resin Unlimited model maybe looks better. I think it is that the Resin model is kind of a caricature that emphasizes the cute features of the truck. See what you think.

My guess is that the RU folks used the Wiking Chevy as part of the casting when they did the master for their LCF. And you are right in that neither (the Wiking or the RU) are particularly correct but I hesitate to call it a caricature. Perhaps the RU version looks good because of the crispness of lines but I would say that yours looks pretty darned good too Carter. Great effort with really nice results. Oh, and the kingpin has gotten pretty darned good at that casting thing too.

Carter they came out great for sure. Nice addition to any collection. Love the idea for the mixer bodies. Thanks for the good words on the casting. Steve D Kingpin.
