Hello gentlemen. Here are a few of my most recent projects. 3 vintage campers, a '63 Shasta, a '48 Spartanette, and a '48 Spartan A 70's Skidoo and trailer A 1926 Stutz The underside of the Stutz The Car from the 1977 movie, well, The Car. I'm also working on the police bike and an officer to go with it. Here is an example of my N scale work. A fellow has contracted me to create the masters then he makes copies, paints them, and sells them on Ebay. More N scale stuff (This is the last you'll see of this scale stuff here, I just wanted you to see what I was up to) Regards, Tom P.S. I hope I did this correctly....

Looks like you did everything correctly Tom. Especially the beautiful modeling! It's a pleasure to see such great work. Thanks for sharing and welcome. I really love that Stutz.

Thanks Chester, I have been admiring your work for quite some time now. Your finishing and weathering is amazing. I have a storage facility and the Stutz came right from the barn it had sat in for 50+ years to my building while the owners estate worked at finding a buyer. It eventually went to Wales! But not before I took a lot of pictures of it. Even unrestored it was an impressive vehicle. My model of it is now complete and I'm going to start casting the parts soon. The same estate has a 1960 Cadillac, a '78 Lincoln, a '68 Jaguar, and a mid 80's Rolls Royce in there right now. I just might have to do the Cadillac some day. I should add that all my work is scratch built.

Fantastic! The Shasta is fantastic. Would love to get a copy, are you going to make any castings?

Thank you Superba. Yes, I will be making castings of everything I do. Typically this is a very busy time of year for me so it might be a month or so before I get a chance to make moulds, but I will let you know when they are ready.

Great work. I must ask how do you manage to get such clean castings?

Thank you gdcd74. Actually the only things here that are castings are the Skidoo and trailer and some bits on the campers such as the crank, the propane tank, and the wheels. The rest of the stuff pictured are my scratch built masters made from styrene sheets. When I do cast, the only special things I do is coat the mould with a light dusting of baby powder and I put the mixed resin in a syringe, put my finger over the end and pull back on the plunger which kind of "degasses" the resin. Then I inject it into the mould. It helps cut down on bubbles. Oh, I also make sure there are lots of vents in the mould.

Thaose vintage trailers are fabulous. I started a generic version several years ago, but never finished. I'll be looking forward to your castings!

Dear Tom:
Adored the Stutz and the vehicle from ' The Car Movie. I am looking for these ones. They will be assembled or kits?
And since you have done one of them , is there any plans for a 4-door 1955 - 1957 Chevys?

Yes Nick, I will be making castings( so a kit version will be available ) of all the models pictured. It might be a while yet though, as I stated earlier, this is a very busy time of year for me. As for the Chevys, I'm assuming your talking 1/87th scale. I don't have plans for one right away but it's certainly something to think about. My next car on the drawing board in 1/87th scale is a '71 AMC Javelin.

Dear Tom:
Thanks for the prompt answer. You may be surprised that the only model of a 4-door 1957 Chevy is a toy made by Estrela from Brazil (which may be copied from someone else) in near 1/20 scale and there is a (expensive) model of a 4-door 1955 Chevy, in 1/24 scale; hence, models from these cars - 4-door version of - are nearly inexistent (which puzzles me).
Looking up for the Stutz and The Car.
Best Regards,
Nick K

Thanks Christian, the castings are still about a month away. This time of year I barely have time to sit down!

Well after much gnashing of teeth I think I finally have some acceptable moulds of the 1926 Stutz. The model ended up consisting of 16 pieces. Here are the six moulds used to make the parts. The chassis mould was made in four pieces. Here are the first castings test fitted together without any sanding or fine tuning. Sorry about the low res images. I didn't realize that till after they were uploaded and I just wasn't in the mood to shoot them again. Regards, Tom
