There is an interesting period dealership I just ran across. It is by J.L. Innovative Design. They are a good outfit for small detail accessories (oil display racks, jacks, other automotive items in HO). They do have a few structures (which I am not familiar with); and, one of them is #171 - Pickard Motors. It's a converted gas station with assorted details and it's a Studebaker dealership. Go here: tinyurl.com/5ugco7Also of interest might be 161 - Vic's Auto Alignment (ex gas station) 141 - Labosky's Motorcycle Repair shop 311 - McLeod's Super Service (gas station) 341 - Brownie's North Side Service (gas station) 371 - Wilbur Shaw's Speed Shop (ex gas station) 431 - Storm Lake Mobil (gas station - round drum style) 481 - O'Lary's Garage (another exGas Station) other kits featuring new uses for gas stations, etc. and all auto related. Design Preservation (DPM) have a couple of models suitable for showrooms or used car/bike lots. "Carrs Parts" www.dpmkits.com/images/116b.jpg is almost identical to the Australian Lamborghini dealership that was located in South Melbourne (Victoria, Australia) until quite recently. Yep, there was room for 4 cars inside! Woodland scenics has recently released a built-up service station that could easily be converted to the office of a used car lot.

HI: Here is another "maybe" available car dealership:
Smalltown USA 6029 Classic & Foreign car showroom. Currently marked unavailable at Walthers; but, I've seen them on eBay and at on-line dealers.
Harry
PS - I have compiled a list of dealerships and gas stations from Walthers catalog. As soon as I can figure out how to put it in the database I'll let everyone know in this thread.

Hi all: Recalling that Pola building that has been a bank, a computer store, and several car dealerships. I found the VW version on eBay: tinyurl.com/6grp52if anyone is interested in it. A number of 1/72 VWs are included and the price is running high. Swamp Daddy

"INCLUDES 1 VW LOGO", says the vendor. Looks like he added it himself.

Hi: Could well be a homemade dealership, not a factory one; however, someone did sell that kit in VW markings so I don't know.
Like the old Roman saying, "let the buyer beware". I just send the links in case someone is interested; but, I can't vouch for the data as they aren't my models.
I probably have saved the box top for every kit building I have constructed. And maybe an end flap of the box containing stock numbers, etc. So, when I refer to my own stuff I can back it up.
But, I thought it interesting, Harry

Hi all: I have just received two Promotex/Herpa kits to make a dealership. And, I have to sing the praises of whoever designed this kit. They are going to be good looking and very easy to put together.
Mine are made of thick (1/8" at least with no warping) medium grey plastic with locating pins and holes at the corners for alignment. They are painted a somewhat darker flat grey on the outside; and, packed with a piece of tissue paper between each section to protect the paint. The clear packing tray has little nubs on all four sides of each little slot to absolutely lock the parts in place (no breakage or scratching possible) during shipping. This is the best shipping container/kit box I think I have ever seen.
If you've ever opened a Cornerstone kit and found parts damaged, scratched, missing from sprues, paint rubbed off, etc. you will appreciate this almost impossible to damage packing.
Might take 15 minutes to assemble one as designed. As I plan a few mods mine will be longer.
I can certainly recommend these for a superb, modern auto dealership.

It seems like the natural progression from collecting 1:87 scale cars is to put them in a dealership. Years ago I converted a Life-Like fire station into a Mercedes-Benz dealership and ever since I see every HO scale building in terms of turning it into a car dealership. I replaced the original Mercedes dealership with a larger one that I scratch built, complete with working overhead doors and showroom doors that open to move cars in and out. I also converted several other building into dealerships as well. I'm currently working on a DPM modular building to make a two story showroom from the 1920's and a modern brick showroom with a Pikestuff metal service garage. I have an unbuilt Walters Ford dealership and recently found another at a local train show so I can customize one and still have the other to be stock.
I'll post some pictures soon of the ones I have built and would be interested in seeing what other people have buit as well. Most of the commercial kits leave something to be desired and I'm sure that the people on this board have some great ideas that can greatly improve on them.

Blair Line will be shipping a laser-cut wood kit for A to Z Used Cars, a small car lot (~10-11 cars) that will retail for US$47.95. I know it says available on Feb. 6 on the web page but Dale said it would be closer to the middle of the month. Blair Line kits are pretty easy to build and I would assume it wouldn't be too hard to expand the size of the lot. Ten cars isn't going to begin to cover my inventory! www.blairline.com/atozusedcars/

Walthers makes a small dealership with nice sized windows for displayed cars. "Walshlager Motors" I believe.

Hi everyone, This is the JL Innovative Design Speed shop. As you can see it offers lots of nice opportunities to show off some hot rods.
