Dear Hansy:
Only two manufacturers made the Vic in 1/87: Walthers and a new range called Cop Car Collection,I think.I know who is the German Dealer on eBay.de who sells these.

I don't know much more about the Cop Car Collection models. The civilian models are sold under the US Highway Stars brand. I believe the manufacturer is from Germany and that there could be an IMU/Euromodell connection. But this really isn't more than an assumption. The seller who originally sold them on ebay is pantera_gts. He's still selling them and always has the newest models. He should have a short connection to CCC and US Highway Stars or may be he's even involved. Just another assumption, but he should be the one to ask if nobody has the answer here.

I believe the manufacturer is from Germany and that there could be an IMU/Euromodell connection. I find that unlikely. If it was Euromodel, Mr Stettnisch would be shelling them out, too. Would the guy who turns dirt into money leave his fingers off these if he had any connection to them? No way.

So I take it that so far no one knows just where the Cop Cars are coming from. Interesting that some company could produce such a nice model and be an unknown to this group.

I don't think these models are Walthers. It appears that these models are molded in colored plastic, not painted like Walthers models Joe

The light bar on the Chicago Police model looks a lot like the one Walthers put on its police car models.

I suspect the entire model to be a copy of the Walthers Crown Victoria. The manufacturer probably wants to keep a low profile ...

Whoever is making these is using some expensive equipment to make them with. Two possibilities come to mind. One, someone is moonlighting at a model company or Two, they are being done in China. Not many companies have the equipment and setup to do molding like this.

I suspect the entire model to be a copy of the Walthers Crown Victoria. Discussion about these models has also been going on the Mo87 messageboard, in a post on that board it was mentioned that the model was slightly (1.0 - 1.5 mm) larger then the Walthers model. The detailing seems to be better as well. Copied and then reworked maybe ?

Copied and then reworked maybe ? That's what I find most likely, although I need to get hold of both the Walthers and CCC model first to rise this discussion above the level of speculation. Different plastics could account for the difference in size ... or they didn't handle the pantograph correctly. ;D
