Excellent Dave, the Grand Prix is just perfect, I love it. And your chrome work on the Bobcat is simply astounding.

Thanks guys for your kind words about my models.
Chester, I can't take much credit for the chrome on the Bobcat. I used some Testors black enamel in the grille. Other than the wheels, the rest is stock Motormax.
Skunk, I don't care for the Monogram wheels either, especially on the Grand Prix. I just have not found wheels resembling the prototype. This body style GP is one I have always liked since its introduction in 1988.
best regards, Dave

Dave, I like your models very much! The details are outstanding, color-choices wouldn't have been my choice, but thats's just whatever you like, it doesn't make the work any less perfect! Besides, considering the fact that the Grand Prix used to be red and turned out in a perfect white finish, I can only say: job very well done!! ("white is difficult to get right" ) Years ago, I converted these models myself as well, and I decided to leave the Monogram wheels to the RX-7, but I changed the Grand Prix's to a set of '93 Herpa Mercedes C-Class rims, because they looked OK with the Grand Prix to me and they somewhat resembled the style of wheels used on the Pontiac Trans Sport of that timeperiod. I'll post pictures of the models when I get the chance...

Thankyou. Even though 1989 is outside my core interest, I particularly like the Grand Prix and white was a very popular color then. In fact I owned a 1989 Grand Am in white. For the model the white presented some problems when doing the black out painting, as the smallest of errors showed. My favorite color for this car was a medium/dark blue metallic, and I plan to do one of those before too long.
When you get the chance please post a photo of your model with better wheels.
kind regards, Dave

I will be able to post new pictures in about 2 weeks, so for that opportunity I will take the Grand Prix. I actually painted mine in medium blue metallic, with the lower half of the body painted in silver, which is also my favorite color-scheme for this car.

Very handsome, and rare compared to the all blue paint. I just located these "passenger van tires" from Herpa in the Walthers catalog. Does anyone know their size / vehicle they are made for? The spiral design is similar to alloy wheels seen on the Grand Prix , even with too many spokes. www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/326-5368

I didn't know they were sold as seperate pieces, but it could be a Walthers exclusive set... If you would like to change the rims of the Grand Prix, you would perhaps be best of with a generic type of (aftermarket) spoked alloy rim, like these: www.busch-model.com/katalog/d/artikel/49950-h0.htm

Dave, beautiful models, everyone of them. How do you make your chrome look like chrome? I am very impressed!

Thankyou for your kind words.
Chester, The vintage Ford was a gift from my Children several years ago. The Jordan's are reasonably priced and the LHS displayed them on a low shelf that was at their eye level. It's old for my era so I chose to finish it as a pampered restoration. I like the Jordan kits for their fine detail, and assembly reminding me of 1/25 kits done in my younger years.
Jerry, Most of the time I use BMF for bumpers and grilles, or sometimes the outline of the grille. Lately I have used it on some side trim and tail lights. Your 55 Roadmaster kit was an experiment in that BMF was used for the windows and all chrome except the portholes and wheels.
For silver paint I use Testors Modelmaster 2734 Chrome Trim. A recent purchase was a bottle of Humbrol Metalcote, which I will be comparing to the Testors.

Interesting, I'd like to know what you prefer, Testors Chrome Trim or Humbrol Metalcote, which I use.
I like your new gallery, fine models you have.
