Dear Sirs:
The Cargo also graduated as an Iveco.
Dear only87:
1.What I stated is that Brazilian truck model looks like a Navistar -albeit faintly.
2.DaimlerChrysler Group has some more holdings under its umbrella:
Buses: Thomas Built buses, manufacturer of scholl buses and recently of transit buses. Orion Buses, from Canada. Manufactures transit buses. Kasshoberer (sorry my poor spelling) Setra. That does not need an introducion. Emergency vehicles by American La France.
I am not aware if they still honoring Chrysler's former connections with Mitsubishi. It seems that TATA does offer a SUV that looks like a Mitsubishi.

...Sterling's products are still very Ford based. They still have the Ford Cargo in their productline, which debuted in 1981 and was not much of a success in Germany. But this is a cat with seven lives. Many truckbuilders took advance of this particular Ford development. Ashok Leyland for example, the main competitor of TATA. The world ain't round, it's square! The Cargo was quite successful, first as a Ford product, then later as the Iveco EuroCargo (Ford sold its European truck operation to Iveco). It won the International Truck of the Year award in 1982. Considering the longevity of its American predecessor, the Ford C-cab which was in production from 1956 to 1990, it's not surprising that it lives on as a Sterling. Ford's agreement with DaimlerChrysler to not compete in the commercial truck market is coming to an end. It will be interesting to see if Ford decides to get back into medium trucks (beyond the bigger F-Series models), where it would compete with GM.

Dear Sirs:
The Ford 'C' series had a long life,as stated above, but it started life as a Mack.

Mack used the cab from 1958 to 1962 on their N-series. They never sold many of these. The cab originated on the Ford trucks, but was originally manufactured by the Budd-Company, which may have had an influence (along with its design) to its not so charming nickname "buttnose". I believe the Cargo is also still in production in Turkey and is quite popular over there. It also had a good success in Great Britain, where Ford trucks were well-established on the market. In the rest of Europe the not so widespread service net may have caused the reserved sales.

Ford's agreement with DaimlerChrysler to not compete in the commercial truck market is coming to an end. If I understood it correctly, Ford will partner with International Navistar to produce the new, about Cargo-sized (classes 4 and 5) commercial truck. The International designation will be CF -for cab forward- while Ford will use the LCF designation. See www.internationaldelivers.com/site_layout/news/newsdetail.asp?id=563. (And no, DAF does not play a role here, despite the identical name tags.) Probably a good candidate for another Boley model. Marc S.

Now here's an idea I have been playing around with for quite a while, only on a smaller scale. Did you know that Tata also build a small pickup truck called the Loadbeta? This uses body panels from the Mercedes 190. I will have to start looking for some herpa examples at the local swapmeets now!

Good call! I always thought that the front fenders in particular looked familiar. They made other varsions (more SUV like) that use the same body parts.

Dear Perez:
The Ford 'C' series of the US was replaced by the Brazilian-built Ford Cargo.
