It is kind of quiet in this thread so here's one of the models that's on my workbench at the moment ! It is Kibri based (MB Actros chassis from the wrecker kit) with a scratchbuilt flatbed. The metal strips are, well, metal strips, the rest is Evergreen and bits and pieces from the partsbox.

Did you fasten each and every one of the metal strips or is that a sheet of corrugated metal? I like the treatment of the flatbed in the back especially.

Dear Eric:
The brown stepvan that can be seen across the picture: what is it?
Compliments for a very nice model.

Nick,
Looks like either Preiser's (probably so) or Herpa's Mercedes 508D panel-van.

Chester,
it's not really corrugated metal, the 35 x 26 x 0.5 mm bits of metal I used here are originally used for levelling furniture. They are made of strips (steel probably) which are also 0.5 mm wide. The strips are glued together and can easily be snapped of at the desired length.
Nick,
Marc is right, it's a Preiser Mercedes 508D indeed !

Eric Assuming that the truck is 1/87th, those strips on the bed are very small. I have never seen anything (for levelling furniture) like it. Have you Chester?

While I am at it.. this is how my Furuta 350Z looks at the moment. It is almost finished, but I haven't found a way to make the small orange turnsignals next to the headlights yet. Any suggestions ?

It is a very thin strip of lighting on the prototype indeed. Could you find a decal that has that color and cut a thin strip to apply there? I know that sounds cheesy but paint just wouldn't seem to be the answer here.
The more I see of the Furuta models the more I am impressed. Excellent job on it. And the MB lumber truck is looking very good. I like the bandings on the lumber load. Looks like you dressed that lumber yourself (that means "cut" in the lumber business)

I also like the souped up Beetle with the trunklid open, the one that can be glimpsed behind the lumbering Benz. Are those Automobilia rims on it?
Excellent work on the Nissan and the Benz. As for those blinkers, maybe a fine-tipped, orange permanent marker may be your answer?

And the MB lumber truck is looking very good. I like the bandings on the lumber load. Looks like you dressed that lumber yourself The bandings were made from small strips cut out of vinyl stickers (orange, yellow and black), a drop of CA keeps them in place. As for the lumber, yes, each piece was cut seperately. The wood is normally used in ship modelling (Remember the 'Billing Boats' kits ?)

You have a keen eye for details they are Automobilia Fuchs rims. The Beetle is the AMW model (still the best Beetle around in my opinion). I'll post a picture ! As for those blinkers, maybe a fine-tipped, orange permanent marker may be your answer? Hmm, difficult, I am afraid a marker might slip on the rounded shape of the headlights. I think I'll try Chesters's decal suggestion first...
