Just wondering if anyone had any ideas on existing models or starting points for a ca. early 60s Ford F-series (F600, 700, etc.). A few options exist for late 60s-70s Fords (Athearn F850, Lindberg F600, Rick Decals, etc.), but there doesn't seem to be anything out there for an early 60s F-series. Only thing I can think is Ivers might have done a ca. early 60s F800- but that doesn't help much either unless someobdy knows of a place that still has some old Ivers kits sitting around... Ivers doesn't even show up much on Ebay.

Please note that Athearn still says the F-850 is suitable for years 1968 to present. This is incorrect. The markings on the cab are for a 1963 to 1967 Ford F-850. In 1968, the trim was changed from the Ford crest and "Super Duty" script to a chrome spear with a reflector and model designation. Ford also added side marker lamps to the 1968 and later cabs to comply with U.S. federal safety standards.
Bill C. The Ivers truck is from that same era. The Rick's Decal Ford NT is also the same era and is a copy of the Lesney/Matchbox Heavy Duty Wrecker cab. Walthers had the 1966 Ford pickup, but thats extremely difficult to find too. That cab shared a similar structure from 1961 to 1966, with minor styling and grille changes. Husky (Corgi Jr.) also produced a diecast early '60s Ford as a towtruck or camper. The proportions are a little off and are too big for a pickup, but close to the larger F-series trucks. Joe Fay is/was? working on a 1959 Ford pickup/utility truck from the 1/64th Racing Champions casting. Hope it comes about. Richard O.

Dear All:
Why, that is good, the fact that someone did copied the Ford N series from Matchbox. Before that, only model of that.
I will like a model of the 1960 Ford F series as well. In Brazil, it was introduced as a 1963 model year, and up to 1967, a double cab, three door was offered; no rear door at the passenger side because the gas lock was located there, close to the rear window. However, according to the Brazilian Magazine Quatro Rodas (Four Wheels), in 1963 a dealer offered a 4-door model with a covered bed; the rear door where 'suicide' type. The 1960 model carried on up to 1969 in that country; in 1967 it received a re-designed front end; in 1969 another, and also featured the twin I-bean front suspension. Since I have pictures of these transformation and double cab, if a 1960 model is done, Jack can make this modifications for me. I also have a Toy Dump truck with the 1967 front end.

Did Life-Like have a mid sixties Ford pickup also? As far as I recall, NO. The Life-Like trucks were 1978/79 Ford F350 Camper Special with the 8.5' bed/extended wheelbase (included the vertical spare tire cabinet on the passenger side). These can be made into great looking trucks with a little attention. LL now have the 1956 Ford truck, which is too big as a pickup and not quite right as a Big Job medium duty truck. Don't forget, the Budd cab Ford C was introduced in 1957. Here is a modified Walther's Ford pickup my father modeled after my buddy's 1:1 truck. Richard O.

Thanks for the info, I tracked down one of the Corgi Ford pickups so we'll see how well it works to convert into an F600 dump truck with a plow...

How about the Aurora Thunderjet 62 Ford pickup? I saw one at a tow show today. It looks like it might be slightly smaller than 1/72scale, but slightly larger than 1/87 scale.
