I think I'll give gunmetal a try. I like black vehicles and I make my solid castings with gloss black windows, so I only paint hollow cast models black. I'll post my results. Jack

For solid cast models, my father and I have used Floquil Gunmetal. As stated before, its not black or blue and gives the impression the windows are reflecting some of the sky's light. I have also painted them black and then added streaks of blue for highlights. Richard O.

I'll have to agree with most everyone that a straight black doesn't look as good as a black blend. I prefer the PolyScale oily black which has little metallic flake and a touch of green. I also prefer an acrylic. Because I BMF under, it's easy to clean errant black off the "glazing" around the outside by rubbing with a toothpick when dry. I also use a drop of windshield washer fluid in the paint to make a very thick wash that allows the BMF to shine through only slightly.
