Very nice, you both did a great job on these. They look like factory releases.

Sabuu,
I really like your interpretation of the Grand Prix. You have done well in capturing the look of the LE. The Mercedes C rims finish the model nicely. Thankyou for showing these.
Your are right in saying that the body and interior are very nicely molded, with many possible prototype interpretations. For those reading who are not as familiar with this casting, the red plastic Monogram version is readily and cheaply available on eBay. Herpa offers a painted version with better wheels in their line.

Thanks for the compliments guys! Indeed, the wheels of Herpa's model are already a lot better than Monogram's original ones. I have this one in a nice blueish green metallic, with gold wheels: www.galery.1zu87.com/1655.html These wheels somewhat resemble the gold wheels that were actually available on the real Grand Prix, but they were honeycomb-style. The wheels of the 'Smokey and the Bandit' Trans Am from Reel Rides come close (the outer ring should then be painted silver), but I fear these might be too big, so I think the BBS-rims that were used on some of Herpa's first (race) BMW M3's come closest to the originals: www.edmunds.com/pontiac/grandprix/1990/index.htmlwww.1zu87.com/bilder/2932B.JPGFinally, one could consider using Herpa's Ferrari Testarossa wheels, they come pretty close to another type of rims used on the Grand Prix: www.pontiacserver.com/gph3_10.htmlwww.galery.1zu87.com/545.html

Very nice, the paint and details make the model look like its larger in scale....1/43...1/25.
Very nice

Part 13. - 1992 Audi 80 S2 Avant Rietze has always been making Audi's, starting with the 200 in the early eighties, followed by models of the Coupé, 80, 90 and 100 by the end of the eighties / beginning of the nineties. The facelifted versions of all of these models were also made, and even the sporty S2 version of the Coupé. However, in 1992 Audi introduced this S2 version also for the (facelifted) 80 model, but Rietze did not follow. So, in July 1994 I created the 80 S2 Avant myself, by addding the wheels, bumpers and skirts of Rietze's Audi Coupé S2 to their 80 Avant model. I further modified this regular Avant to an S2 version by deleting the roofrails and carving the standard (steel) sunroof in the roof. Finally, I painted the car in Crystal Silver and this is the result: uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/sabuu_87/album?.dir=1788scd&.src=ph&store=&prodid=&.done=http%3a//uk.pg.photos.yahoo.co

Cool! I never thought of that. My only problem with your conversion is that Rietze's S2 rims are too small compared to the real thing. Maybe there are some other wheels out there that would suit it better?

...My only problem with your conversion is that Rietze's S2 rims are too small compared to the real thing... Point taken and agreed, but I wanted to keep the original S2 rims for this car. They are specific for a 1992 S2, since in 1993 they were replaced by the 6-spoke "Avus"-style wheels, that would from that moment on become a benchmark for all future Audi "S"-models to come... And changing it for, let's say, Porsche 911-style rims would make it appear too much like an RS2...

Ah yes, you were looking for these rims: forum.avtoindex.com/foto/data/media/22/audi_s2_93-96_1.jpgThey remind me of the ones that Rietze put on the Audi TT: www.galery.1zu87.com/9643.htmlMaybe you should test them out? And coincidentally, I have a few Porsches and old Audi 80s laying around, waiting for a conversion to occur some day. While the RS2 was on sale, it was my number one dream car. I still haven't found the proper colour, but maybe I should head to an Audi dealership?

RS2... I still haven't found the proper colour, but maybe I should head to an Audi dealership? Rather a Porsche dealership. The RS blue as Audi liked to call it was actually a Porsche factory colour. I went to the local Porsche dealership as -in exchange for a completed model built by a friend -it was my job to bring all the bits, pieces, and a small bottle of RS blue. In the end, both models were painted metallic black because Porsche's blue required to be baked after the paintjob was done - not the ideal thing to do with a plastic model. Kai has a photo of his model on the website: www.kabemo.de/modellbau/pkw/audi/modrs2.htm . The other one (living in may display case) got the prototypical Porsche wheels. Marc S.

Very nice looking RS2 there, Marc! I especially like the curved rearview mirrors (Porsche 911?), they look great and belong to every RS2. btw: I once mixed the blue RS-paint (also called Nogaro Blue) myself for an Audi S6 Plus Avant that I made, starting with Humbrol 14 (French Blue) as a base... It worked out pretty well, I'll have to show the finished car some other time!

14. - 1996 Audi S6 4.2 Plus Avant (Nogaro Blue) well, here's finally the 1996 Audi S6 Plus Avant that I promised to show you some 4 years ago already (djeezz, time really flies!). It is a conversion from Rietze's decent 1994 A6 Avant and it only needed the right wheels, a double exhaust, S6 badges front and rear, the right paint (as mentioned above custom made) and different rear light clusters (also painted):
